Introduction to Adsl Modem:
Adsl (Asymmetric digital subscriber line), is a type of DSL connection which uses the copper line fixed telephone line for high speed broadband internet. ADSL technology is generally 10-140 times faster internet than normal 56k dialup internet. Its more advanced than dial-up. In dial-up internet, phone line can't be used while accessing internet but in ADSL technology, we can use the phone line for both purpose ( talking as well as internet surfing ). But for adsl internet, we need to have adsl modem separately and a splitter which can split the voice and data.


Adsl Speed:
As mentioned earlier, adsl internet technology comes in various speed from 128 kbps to 2mbps and more and tariff vary according to speed and bandwidth.


Adsl Modem Installation:


Adsl internet installation vary according brand and model of adsl modem. But normally i will brief the procedure for most common modems.
1) Connect the main line of your fixed telephone wire to splitter. From one port opposite to main port, connect the line to phone and from another port to adsl modem.
2) Connect your adsl modem to LAN card of your PC. And follow the instructions in adsl modem's manual.
